I love love love your products. I know that you over price a lot of your products, and sometimes that bothers me, but I really do enjoy your products. I've talked about getting a MacBook Pro before. I own an iPod Touch and an iMac. However, there is a certain thing that I hope you add to the iPod line soon. Play counts.

I've had my iPod Touch since last August and have absolutely loved it. Besides the fact that I bought it weeks before the second generation came out, I still can't find much wrong with it. If I get kicked off the computer, I still have some method of getting on the computer without resorting to my PC. It gives me updates on my email quickly. Not to mention the lovely looking UI of it! It's just a shame that Apple hasn't put in play counts on the iPod.

I find it very interesting to see which songs I listen to very often. Some nights I'll just sit here and listen to the same song on repeat for hours and get its play count up 20-50 times. Now obviously the songs which are my current favorites will have a higher play count than those which came with an album I just downloaded for a handful of songs.

Now, these play counts are only recorded under my account in iTunes on my iMac. I would love my iPod even more if Apple added the syncing ability for play counts. I don't know much about how the iPods are programmed or anything, but it doesn't seem like it would be a lot of work to sync the play counts and increment them on the iPod.

The only glitch I can see — which might be causing Apple to not add this feature — is that what happens if the play counts changes on both the computer and the iPod from the time of sync? Which of the play counts would override the other? I came up with a solution that I think could work, but would require some extra file reading/writing:

  1. Before a sync create a play count counter file with the play counts of each of the songs.
  2. Take the difference between the computer's play counts and the file and add those to the iPod's play counts and vice versa for the iPod's.

Unless thousands of people want this feature to be added, I don't see Apple adding it anytime in the future. I guess it doesn't hurt to express your feelings, does it? Especially when something might happen? :3

365 Project at Flickr July 25

I've decided to start a 365 project on my flickr. Hopefully I won't stop it halfway through. If you don't know what a 365 project is, it's when you take a picture everyday for an entire year (365 days).

I know that there will be some days that I can't get to the computer so I'll have to post double on some days. However, I'll make sure to post a picture from the correct day! I started my project with a picture of a Moleskine planner I ordered for this upcoming school year. I was pretty shocked that it came out this good with the lighting I had and how this was my first "macro" shot in a while.

The Moleskine I got earlier this week for this upcoming school year. I never thought I would actually buy a planner because I rarely use the one the school gives!

I've decided to start a 365 project to get me back into photography. I want to be really excited when I get my new camera in about a year! :)
