Things I Want to Accomplish in 2010 December 30
Thought that I should make a list of things that I want to do in 2010 since I've never done anything like this before. It's mainly to get me motivated to actually do these things. Some of them might seem weird but for me, they're just things I really want to do. :P
- Write at least five articles for Nettuts+.
- Submit at least two WordPress themes to ThemeForest.
- Learn Cocoa and write a simple iPhone application. I'll make myself something if I make one that gets accepted into the App Store.
- Try another attempt at reading Crime and Punishment.
- Do the best I can to get at least a four on both my AP tests.
- Get much better at photography. Especially portraits and macros (buy things for a light tent!).
- Buy a white or light colored hoody since I only have dark ones. :(
- Buy a hoody from Threadless. I've secretly always wanted one, but haven't bought it because of the price tag.
- Raise my iTunes library song count to 250+. I consistently delete songs I don't like, which is what makes this hard.
- Make at least $800 this summer from online things.
- By the end of the year, have at least 75 subscribers. 100 would be nice.
- Be getting 2500 unique hits a month on my blog.
- Finish reading JavaScript: The Definite Guide
- Attempt to knit myself socks and/or gloves.
- Get my MacBook Pro for Christmas if I'm lucky. A new model will probably be out by then and that would be awesome.
- Maybe buy an SB-600 flash for my camera. This depends on how many things I do for Envato.
- Being mastering WordPress so my web development skill set drastically increases.
- Make sure someone buys me a silicon mat because I really want one.
- Buy a non-glass thermometer so I never eat glass again. D:
- Cook at least five recipes from Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking.
- Add a blogroll to this site (long over due).
- Recategorize and tag all my posts on this blog... because tagging every other post as "Personal Life" doesn't really help.
- Try and score in the 95th (or higher) percentile on the PSATs in October.
- Remember to take health over the summer.
- Decide if I'm going to take IBO or just all AP classes.
Probably other stuff, but that's what I really want to do. What are your big things that you want to accomplish in the up coming year?

How many subscribers do you currently have? Because I have, like... 70. And I'm not very popular. :P
It fluctuates from 30 to 32 over the course of a couple days. I always go into these times of hibernation and don't blog for like a month and that doesn't help subscription count. :P
And you lie, you are popular. :P
DON'T DO IB!!!!! I applied for it and I'm soooo happy I decided to go to my school instead. Ugh. I know a lot of people who do it and they hate it.
Oh, and if you want to get your subscription count up, get yourself nominated for the Bloggies. I went from like... 3 subscribers to 80ish because of that.
Don't I need to be interesting to be nominated for the Bloggies? :P
Our school has the IB program so I would still get to see all my friends. I just get mixed opinions on taking it or not. Oh well, I have until February to make up my mind. :P
I lost a lot of subscribers when my site moved :( I guess I want to get that back up by posting (good entries) regularly!
What's harder, IB or AP? I'm taking AP English right now; I didn't have any intention of doing it but I got put into the class, so now I'm considering the exam.
Like Clem, I know people in IB who hate it BUT they are somehow surviving the grueling workload and they find it rewarding at the same time! Personally, I wouldn't put myself through IB unless I intended to study in another country after high school.
Good luck with these things on your list! I hope you can accomplish a big part, if not all of them!
And how can you track how many subscribers you have? Is there some kind of plugin for Wordpress?
One of my best friends is doing IB, and looking back, if I'd had the option, I think it would have been better for me academically. Of course, you do need really good teachers and to work very hard, harder than A levels (over here). I don't know what the issue is with Unis over there, but I'm not sure if it would have been a good idea for me to take it, because over here Unis still haven't got used to IB scores and that's disadvantaged a lot of people, I think. It's a consideration at least.
Kathleen - I setup my feed through Feedburner. It watches all my subscription count. It's really easy to setup too. :D
Ann - It's something that I definitely have to consider. I'm not just going to throw the option out the door. :)
I was taking a couple AP courses up until Christmas this year and it was a lot of work to manage. I basically had no social life and spent every night well into the morning doing homework. I guess they just are not made for everyone and I'm one of those people. Good luck if you take all AP courses :)
You seem to have some big goals, which I think is awesome. I'd be interested to hear about how you do with all of this.
Great resolutions :D Hope they work out! Happy new year :P
P.S. Choose IB, it's a lot of work but it's worth it :D
