Review of Disney's "A Christmas Carol" December 15

Last Saturday I went to the movies with three of my friends to see A Christmas Carol. I had completely forgotten what this movie was about, but once my brother said the name "Scrooge", I quickly remembered.

Anyhow, I didn't know that the movie was in 3D (my friend texted me like 20 minutes before the movie began). I should have brought my glasses, but even if I had, it would have been very tricky to get both them and the uncomfortable 3D glasses on my face. I should probably look into contacts because of situations like this... and because I think they are one of the coolest things next to overhead projectors.

I won't give away much from the movie, but if I had to summarize it in one word, I would probably said, "weird".

The movie begins with the camera going through the air on Christmas Eve having 3D snow flying past you. All of the scenery is done very nicely. Then again, what doesn't Disney that has nice graphics? The first ten minutes of the movie is totally filled with 3D effects, which make my already crappy (20-40-somethingish) vision worse. For normal people's eyes, it was probably interesting and cool, but for me it just made me dizzy. I closed my eyes for a minute or two and just listened.

The basic story line of the novella is the same, Disney just makes the transition from spirits very quickly. They probably could have stretched it out more since the movie only ran a little over an hour. My favorite spirit was probably the first one because of how it was depicted, but my friends enjoyed the second one since they laughed like the whole time he was playing. :P

Do I think this movie was worth $10.50? No. Did I enjoy it? A little, but it was mainly to see my friends. Would I recommend it? If you are expecting Disney awesomeness, no; if you have a free movie pass and have nothing else to see (though, you should totally see Ninja Assassin instead), sure go ahead.

Have you seen any movies lately? If you have, did you enjoy them and would recommend them? If you haven't, what movies would you like to see?

First: you should definitely look into contacts. :D I loooove mine. I would never wear normal glasses because they look bad on me (yep, good reason), but I can't see ANYTHING without them! So contacts are a good solution for me. Plus, they're really not very expensive.

That movie doesn't look very good to me. :| I mean, I'd go see it if my friends wanted me to, but I wouldn't decide to see it on my own.

Recently, I have watched New Moon (as you know, I hated it), and a little less recently, Zombieland (which I loved). I also want to see The Lovely Bones, because I thought the book was amazing.

I actually wanted to go watch this movie, but after what you said, I'm not so sure anymore. :P I'll probably rent it or something when it comes out on DVD.
I recently watched Apocalypse Now in English class... SCARIEST THING OF MY LIFE. It was set in the Vietnam War... so, yeah, you can imagine the number of dead bodies in this movie.
